The Features of Power BI

Power BI was launched in 2013 by Microsoft. It helps its users to make decision-making reports and get insights from data sets. In this blog, we are going to be going over 8 top features of Power BI.

1 - Data Connection

Most users who are also familiar with Excel, usually use the Excel workbook or a text file or CSV file to get their data. However, with Power BI you can get your data nearly everywhere. Microsoft has now developed data source connections with a list of sources such as SQL, Azure, Excel, Text, CSV, PDF, Cloud, and so on. It doesn't matter where the data is and what format it is, a detailed view of it will be provided.

2 - Data Relationships

With Power BI, if you have data in columns, then you can define the relationship between those tables based on one matching column from either table. This process is called Data Modelling.

3 - Power Query and Power Pivot Access

You can edit the data in Power BI using "Power Query in Excel" and also "Power Pivot". These help the user to alter the data to fit however they would like. The Power BI Query feature is used for data transformation and manipulation tools. However, Power Pivot is used as a memory tool to model the data.

4 - Cost of Power BI

Power BI cost is a key feature because when you compare Power BI with different data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikView, etc. Power BI costs much less when you compare them. Power BI also offers a free version which is Power BI Desktop with enough features to get started with data visualization.

5 - Custom Visualizations

Power BI offers multiple built-in visuals to allow you to build dashboards and reports. Users are also able to download custom visuals from marketplaces to what best suits them.

6 - Power BI Question and Answers

Power BI is able to answer your queries regarding the uploaded data. So once your data is uploaded to Power BI, it would help with the information required. And would show the result providing you with a visual or chart.

7 - Report Sharing

When you share a report in Excel, you share it with the data sets. However, in Power BI you can use Power BI Pro services which allow you to share the report with team members without having to worry about data security.

8 - Mobile App

The Power BI app makes the report reaching the end-users much easier and simple to do. When the report is shared with the end-user, they would have to wait in front of their laptop. However, with the Power BI app, you can read the report instantly whenever.
